Ingredients

  • 6 black tea bags
  • 6 cups of water
  • 1 cup black tapioca pearls
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp honey, agave, or sweetener of choice (optional)
  • 2 cups milk- coconut, almond, 2%

Instructions

  1. The night before, I like to seep my black tea bags in water on the counter overnight. This will yield in a nice strong tea and save you time, since you do not need to wait for the tea to cool. You could also boil your water and pour over your tea bags and allow to steep for 4-5 minutes. However, you will want to allow time for the tea to cool before making your beverage.
  2. To make the black pearls (boba), follow the instructions on your tapioca pearl package. Mine suggested to boil 1 cup of pearls in water for a few minutes or until they float to the top, shock in an ice bath, and then transfer to a clean dry bowl.
  3. Once you transfer your tapioca to a clean, dry bowl, combine with brown sugar. You’ll notice a syrup forms. This for some, could be sweet enough for your tea so try it and see if you want additional sweetener.
  4. If you like your tea sweeter, add a nice drizzle of honey, agave, or sweetener around your glass. Scoop a fourth of the sweetened tapioca pearls into the bottom of your glass.
  5. Top with 1½ cups of tea, followed by ½ cup of milk of your choice.
  6. Stir and sip sip away!
