Ingredients
- 1 bottle Pinot Noir
- 3-4 orange slices
- ¼ cup orange juice
- 1 cup brandy
- ¾ cup water
- 2-3 cinnamon sticks
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1-2 star anise
- 1 tbsp cloves
- Pinch of fresh ginger
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, pour all ingredients. Stir to combine.
- Allow the wine to just barely simmer, then turn the pot down to low heat. Simmer on low for 10-15 minutes.
- Strain wine or use a ladle to take out orange slices and spices.
- Pour and serve. Garnish with cinnamon sticks, star anise, or any fruit of choice!
TIPS
- Mulled wine is a traditional European drink with red wine, spices, and fruit. A cozy wine for the holidays!
- You can use any red wine for this recipe.
- Do NOT boil the wine. It burns off the alcohol, caramelizes the sugars, and makes it taste bitter or syrupy.
