Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups bread flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 ½ tsp yeast
- 1 ¼ cup hot water
- 1 bunch thyme
- 1 bunch rosemary (finely chopped)
- ½ cup pecorino Romano (grated)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- In a bowl, combine sugar, salt, yeast, and water. Whisk well until the sugar and salt are completely dissolved
- Add the bread flour and mix until combined. Fold in the herbs and cheese with a rubber spatula, the dough will be very sticky.
- Cover the bowl with a towel and allow to rise in a cool dry place for 2-3 hours or until the dough has doubled or tripled in size.
- Pour your dough into a lightly floured piece of parchment paper. Form your dough into a nice round, pick up your paper, and place it into a small Dutch oven, fitted with a lid. Allow to rise for 30 minutes with the lid on before baking.
- Place in the oven for 30 minutes with the lid on, and 10 minutes with the lid off.
- Remove the bread from the oven and allow to cool. Serve with a dipping oil of your choice for the perfect appetizer snack!
TIPS
- Your dough should be very sticky, which makes for a crustier bread!
- If you have a proofing oven, you can proof the dough at 100°F to make the process easier.
