Ingredients
- 1 large Vidalia onion
- 6 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning or creole
- 1 ½ tbsp dried parsley
- 1 ½ tbsp lemon pepper
- 1 ½ tbsp garlic powder
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Chop off the top and bottom of the onion and peel the skin off.
- Using a small knife, cut out the middle of the onion and fill it with 4 tbsp of butter.
- Score the top of the onion (4×4 ways) to ensure all the seasonings and butter can melt into it.
- Place the onion in a small oven-safe bowl with a lid. Top it with 1 tbsp of each seasoning,
- In another small bowl, microwave 2 tbsp of butter until melted. Whisk in the rest of each seasoning into the melted butter.
- Pour the melted butter mixture over the top of the onion.
- Bake in the oven for 1 hour with the lid on.
- Remove from the oven and serve with warm crostini or any side of choice.
TIPS
- Make sure to get one of the larger onions at the store, it makes coring much easier.
- Scoring the onion before adding the toppings makes it spread like a blooming onion in the oven.
- This recipe is a healthier version of a blooming onion!
