Pizza Dough Pretzel Bites
I have a serious soft pretzel addiction, and unfortunately, I can’t always get them. If you’re anything like me, have no fear! I created this shortcut pizza dough pretzel bites recipe that is way easier than making homemade pretzel dough.

Ingredients
- 1 package of pizza dough
- 1/3 cup baking soda
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 5 tbsp butter (melted)
- Coarse Kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F.
- Fill a large pot with water, leaving some room at the top, and bring to a boil.
- While the water comes to a boil, cut the dough into 4 chunks and roll each one into a rope shape. Cut each rope into 1-inch pieces or 10-12 bites.
- Once the water is boiling, slowly add the baking soda.
- Boil the dough pieces in 2-3 batches for 30-60 seconds and then remove them with a slotted spoon. The bites will float to the top of the water when ready.
- Place the boiled dough bites onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and paper towels.
- Remove the paper towel from the sheet.
- Brush the pretzel bites with egg wash. This will give them the perfect pretzel exterior.
- Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- After removing from the oven, brush the pretzel bites with melted butter and sprinkle with salt.
- Serve with a dipping sauce of your choice and enjoy!
TIPS
- Leave 3-4 inches from the top of the pot when adding your water. Once the baking soda is added, it will start to bubble, and you don’t want it to overflow!
- If you want round pretzel bites, you can roll the pieces into that shape. They will all taste the same, but it’s an aesthetic preference.
- After taking the bites out of the boiling water, they might look a little misshapen. Don’t worry! After baking in the oven, they will take a better shape and look more like pretzel bites you would get at Auntie Anne’s.
- You can dip these pretzels in anything you’d like. For example, mustard, honey mustard, ketchup, cheese sauce, or royal icing glaze.
